About Tungnath & Chandrashila

Tungnath Temple, located at Tungnath in Rudraprayag District, is the highest Lord Shiva Temple in the world. It is also one of the five sacred "Panch Kedar" temples. 
Chandrasheela (meaning "Moon Stone") is a 360-degree panoramic view of the many peaks of the Himalaya's from the peak. 

Chopta is referred to as the mini-Switzerland of India and is the beginning of this spectacular adventure! 
Once you have reached the peak, you will have the opportunity to pay your respects to the Lord Shiva Temple, take in the beautiful views, and experience the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding mountains!


Detailed Itinerary – Tungnath Chandrashila Trek (4 Days / 3 Nights)

Day One : Delhi - Rishikesh

  • A meet at Delhi Railway Station in the early hours will begin our journey to Rishikesh.
  • On the journey to Rishikesh we will visit the Har Ki Pauri.
  • Continue our drive to the Rishikesh campsite where we will check into equipment.
  • Rest and relaxation time will be available once we arrive at site.
  • Evening activities will be a bonfire with music and refreshments.
  • Overnight (1st) in the Rishikesh campsite.
     

Day Two : Rishikesh - Chopta

  • After breakfast we will checkout of Rishikesh campsite then depart to Chopta, via Srinagar, Srikot and Rudraprayag.
  • Enroute to Chopta we will visit Rudraprayag Sangam which is a sacred meeting of Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers and is one of the five 'Prayag' or holy river confluences in India.
  • Once we arrive at Chopta we will check into hotel/campsite.
  • Chopta is a lovely mountain destination surrounded by lush pastures with plenty of tree cover as well as picturesque views of the Himalayas and is referred to as the 'Mini Switzerland of India'.

Evening activities will include:

  • Visiting the green meadows for outdoor activities 
  • Bird watch
  • Relaxing, listening to nature
  • Overnight in hotel/campsite at Chopta
     

Day Three: Chopta - Tungnath - Chandrashila - Rudraprayag

  • After breakfast we will trek to Tungnath (approx. 4km).
  • After reaching the Tungnath temples we will further continue our trek to the Chandrashila (2km from Tungnath) where we can see the most beautiful sunrises/sunsets and panoramic views of the Himalayas.
  • After the complete trek we will make our way back down and commence our journey back to Rudraprayag for our overnight accommodation.
     

Day Four : Rudraprayag - Delhi

  • After breakfast we will check out of the hotel and depart back to Delhi.
